Designer Paula works primarily with recycled silver, which is refined into 999 fine silver. Depending on the design, the silver is alloyed differently: Crocheted earrings like "Cataratas" use soft 999 silver, while pieces in the "Chinches" series are made of harder 950 silver—an alloy with copper that ensures stability, less oxidation, and a brighter shine.

Colombian jewellery designer Alec Niño combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. His pieces feature 925 sterling silver, gold-plated elements and, in particular, the artistic technique of enamelling. This involves applying fine glass powder (enamel) to the silver and melting it at a high temperature to create vibrant colours and durable surfaces.
